Today marks the 243rd birthday of the United States of America. It’s a time that we shoot off fireworks and watch Joey Chestnut eat way too many hotdogs. American’s that the time to remember how fortunate we are to live in this country. We have so many freedoms and we should be thankful for that. We like to take pride in our country, just like every other country does. But we need to remember this is not our home.
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. –John 18:36
We get so caught up in our pride for our country that we forget that when our time here on Earth is done, we will go to another kingdom, if we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It doesn’t matter how powerful your country economically. I will not matter how strong your country’s military is. It will not matter if your country has won 1 gold Olympic medal or hundreds of them.
Nothing matters about your country when your time on Earth is done. All that matters is where you are going when you die. When you have to give an account for what you’ve done, God will not care if you say you lived in the United States or some other country. In fact, the more blessed you were by the country you live in, the more God will expect from us.
Happy birthday America!!! I’m very blessed to live in this country. I don’t always agree in the direction we’re heading, but I still feel blessed to live here. Thank you to our troops who protect us and allow us to have the freedoms that we do.
